What to Bring to Your Session

Your portraits reflect your personality. Make sure you love the clothes you are photographed in. Remember, these images are going to last and be displayed for a lifetime.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Long sleeves are picture perfect, short sleeves are nice.

  • If you must bring sleeveless, please understand that sleeveless will make your arms appear heavy.

  • Opt for your favorite color, your favorite outfits, the outfits others tell you that you look good in.

  • College and high school seniors, bring one outfit that has a formal or professional look. Ladies- A Dress, gown or suit: Guys- Suit and tie or at least Shirt and tie. These outfits are perfect for college applications or job resumes.

  • Wearing solid colored clothing is best. If you wear a pattern be sure it is understated. After all, we are creating portraits of you, not your clothes.

  • Wear lettering on your clothes ONLY if you want it highlighted i.e.., college or school shirts, jackets, uniforms or your work.

  • Don’t forget about your winter wardrobe. That really cool sweater, flannel shirt or even leather jacket depending on the look that you are going for.

Wrinkles: Please iron your clothes before coming. Wrinkles will show.

Acne: DON’T WORRY – You will inevitably wake up with *one* the morning of your session. All of Kon Studio portraits can be professionally micro retouched for that perfect look.

Face Powder: Please bring a compact to wipe away shine as needed.

Sunburn: Be careful not to get too much sun in the days prior to your session. We cannot touch up sunburn.

Glasses: All glasses will distort the face in photographs. We will photograph you with your lenses in your glasses and make every attempt to minimize the glass glare that may occur. Even with non-glare glasses, sometimes the light still reflect and put a greenish spot by your eyes. If you can have your lenses removed, borrow a pair of frames from your optometrist, or consider some portraits without glasses can be better options. Also, glasses have a tendency of dating your image. We here at Kon Studio photograph in a timeless style. 20 years from now, the pose and lighting will still be in style. but your glasses may not be.

Props: College and high school seniors – Be creative. Use your imagination. Have fun! Bring pets, friends, siblings, sports equipment, cars, instruments, your class ring, your______, etc. for your session.

Makeup: Wear the makeup you normally wear – no stage make up here. We photograph for clarity, so be sure all makeup is applied as you like it. Date makeup – the makeup you would wear if going out on a date is perfect!

Hair: College, high school seniors and models – We love to show your hair! We usually have 2 hours blocked out for your session. If you want to come curly and then straighten your hair no problem.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Swimsuit: Models – If you want the wet look, bring your bathing suit and we will make that outfit the last set of images. Be ready for our Beach zone! If you have your favorite beach towel and chair bring them. Make sure if you are a surfer – bring your Board!

Hair: Trim your hair at least one week prior to your session. A trim closer to your session may reveal an un-tanned neck & forehead. If you color your hair, be sure there are no roots showing.

Facial Hair: Plan when to shave. Freshly shaved red skin will show and so will 5 o’clock shadows.
